Comments:

Emerald Tsar (“Nick”) is by the Grand Prix Dressage stallion, Oskar II *Pg*, and out of my personal jumper and dressage mare, Encore.  Nick stands at 15.2 ½ hh at 42 months old, I expect that he will get to be between 15.3 and 16.0 hh.  He has a fun loving personality and loves to be the center of attention.  He would be ideal for a young rider. He was recently started under saddle and shows a strong work ethic.  He is walk/trot/canter under saddle with no issues – he does not need to be lunged prior to getting on him.  He has been free jumped up to 3’6” oxers and shows a tremendous amount of scope through the chute.  All 3 gaits are above average, with a “daisy clipper” trot that is ideal for the hunter ring, his canter is round and “rocking horse” type.  His price will increase as his experience does, and there are plans for him to show at HITS in Ocala in Feb 2012 if not sold prior.  He will make a fantastic Children’s or JR Hunter Horse, and he could easily event to Preliem or compete in dressage with an amateur owner.

Nick’s sire, Oskar II *Pg*, was proven at Grand Prix in Dressage under Hokken Thorne.  He rocketed from First Level to Grand Prix within 16 months showing a strong degree of trainability and rideability.  Oskar is also still one of the highest scoring stallions for the ATA and the ISR for movement and jumping ability.  He scored perfect 10’s for free jumping with both organizations.  Oskar is by the great Russian stallion, Hockey, who has had over 40 offspring competing at the International Level in both Dressage and Show Jumping.  Oskar is also out of a Blesk mare and is closely related to the famous Biotop.

Nick’s dam, Encore, is the only ¾ TB mare approved by the ATA. She was shown by me in both dressage and in hunter/jumpers with good success. Encore was by the TB stallion, Frankly Diplomatic xx who competed up to Intermediaries I with his owner before retiring.   He had only a handful of offspring, several of whom were shown successfully in Dressage (up to Prix St Georges).  Frankly Diplomatic is by the incomparable Diplomat Way, who is still to this day one of the most highly regarded broodmare sires for TB racing (winnings of over 2 million dollars).  It is unusual to find any Diplomat Way blood in the sport horse world as it is usually safeguarded for the race track, but the handful that have been used in sport horse breeding have succeeded in hunters and jumpers.  Encore’s dam was an Anglo Trakehner mare who was by the Trakehner stallion, Bagatell.  Bagatell was competed by Anne Gribbons in eventing and in dressage.  In one year he was both the highest scoring Trakehner for both dressage and hunters.

Nick has a full sister, Emerald Fire, who was a multi HOY award winner (ATA and USDF) in hand as a youngster with scores averaging in the upper 70’s, lower 80’s.  Emerald Fire was the Reserve High Point Mare at her inspection (as a 3 yo) at the 2010 Convention out of over 12 other mares, she was also the Grand Champion Filly of the 2010 Mare/Foal Show at the Convention with the Verband’s Breeding Director, Lahrs Gehrmann.  Emerald Fire and Nick show the same high degree of rideability and trainability that their sire showed.  Nick’s half brother, Emerald Impressions, was competed through Novice Eventing with good success until his sale to a dressage rider – he has competed at First Level and is coming out at Second Level in 2012.
