If the blocked rooms are sold out or you would prefer a lower room rate, here are a few additional choices that you should find acceptable and that are close to the main entrance of the Fairgrounds:
Executive Inn $104 + tax per night
Hampton Inn Fair/Expo 112 + tax per night
Hotels with Lower Room Rates:
Holiday Inn Southwest $59 + tax per night, 4 mi from KFEC

Cancellation policy: Hotels will charge credit cards with one night's deposit when the reservation is confirmed. This deposit is refundable up to 72 hours prior to arrival. Cancellation less than 72 hours prior to arrival will result in loss of the deposit. All changes and cancellations should be made through Destination Kentucky until May 28. After May 28, changes and cancellations should be made directly through the hotel. Hotels will be responsible for refunds.
PET POLICY: DOGS ARE PROHIBITED AT EQUITANA
If you bring a dog, you must board it at the Kentucky Humane Society for $12.00 per day. This includes walking twice daily, bowls, food, and water. Administration of medications will cost extra. Call 502-356-3355 to make reservations for your pet.
Executive West charges $100.00 extra if you bring a dog. We do not know what rules other hotels have regarding dogs. With all the restrictions on dogs, we recommend that you leave your dogs at home if at all possible.

MARTINI HEADS LIST OF USDF DRESSAGE SIRES
At the end of ten years of keeping track of its Horse-of-the-Year qualifiers, the United States Dressage Federation (USDF) has published a list of all dressage horse sires who have produced at least two Horse-of-the-Year qualifiers during that period. The top ten of these qualifiers were given special emphasis and include three Trakehners! This is quite an accomplishment when one considers the number of breeds represented in USDF records.
The USDF list of top 10 sires looks as follows:
1. Martini (Trakehner) 28 qualifiers
2. Chrysos (Westfalen) 23 qualifiers
3. Roemer (Dutch Warmblood) 22 qualifiers
4. Armin (Hanoverian) 21 qualifiers
5 Zorn (Swedish Warmblood) 15 qualifiers
6. Condus (Trakehner) 14 qualifiers
7. Pregelstrand (Trakehner) 14 qualifiers
8. Gixibar (Hanoverian) 14 qualifiers
9. Patrick (Dutch Warmblood) 13 qualifiers
10. Pontus (Swedish Warmblood) 13 qualifiers
Breeds represented among the close to 600 stallions on the list are: American Bashkir Curly, American Performance Horse, American Warmblood, Andalusian, Anglo-Arabian, Appaloosa, Arabian, Bavarian, Connemara, Danish Warmblood, Dutch Warmblood, East German Warmblood, Half-Arabian, Hanoverian, Hessen, Holsteiner, Hungarian, Lipizzan, Morgan, Norwegian Fjord, Oldenburg, Paint, Percheron, Quarter Horse, Rhinelander, Russian Warmblood, Selle Francais, Sporthorse, Swedish Warmblood, Thoroughbred, Trakehner, Westfalen, and Württemberg.
Trakehner stallions listed and their qualifier get are:
Martini 28 Elbiskus 3 Condus 14 Flaneur 3 Pregelstrand 14 Herbststurm 3 Ith 12 Ibikus 3 Avignon II 10 Insterfürst 3 Beauté 10 Kalluster 3 Graditz 10 Lolos 3 Erzsand 9 Luneur 3 Tannenberg 9 Maifeuer 3 Amiego 8 Marduc 3 Bütow 8 Patron 3 Laiken 7 Polarmond 3 Troubadour 7 Potentate 3 Wildfeuer 7 Tizian 3 Zauberklang 7 Tümmler 3 Abdullah 6 Unkenruf 3 Donauwind 6 Adolar 2 Leibjäger 6 Amadeus 2 Mahagoni 6 Egmont 2 Mandinka 6 Fabius 2 Prälat 6 Filou 2 Preussengeist 6 Flugwind 2 Saxon 6 Garibaldi 2 Justiz 5 Hailo 2 Kantor II 5 Hänsel 2 Schönfeld 5 Insterruf 2 Schwalbenzug 5 Karneval II 2 Solist 5 Lenzsturm 2 Tempelritter 5 Memelruf 2 Consul 4 Merkur 2 Eligius 4 Morgenglanz 2 Enrico Caruso 4 Mozart 2 Falke 4 Onassis 2 Mahon 4 Roland 2 Malachit 4 Schönfelder 2 Marcus 4 Schwalbenfreund 2 Meistersinger 4 Sigurd 2 Schubert 4 Solling 2 Adlatus 3 Traumdeuter 2 Antritt 3 Virgil 2
To be included in the list, a stallion has to have produced at least two Horse-of-the-Year qualifiers. Horses that qualified at more than one level in a year or throughout the years are counted as only one horse. For example, Hannabal, who qualified through all the levels from Training to Grand Prix, is counted as only one of Pregelstrand's 14 qualifiers.
