American Trakehner Association

2001 Inspection Schedule
(updated 4-2-2001)

A total of 184 horses were nominated for inspection in 2001. From their locations and the submission of volunteer inspection host sites, the 9 inspection locations shown in the table below were tentatively selected for 2001. They were selected on the basis of (a) an adequate number of nominated horses within their area; (b) their location in proximity to the nominated horses; and (3) a reasonable proximity to air transportation. Not all locations are able to inspect stallions since a team of three inspectors plus a German representative must be present to inspect stallions. Our thanks go to all those who volunteered their sites whether selected or not.

The ATA Office will notify every horse owner who submitted a nomination form for one of these inspections with information on deadlines, registration requirements, etc. Those not able to attend one of the listed sites are requested to resubmit their nominations for 2002.

One of the listed inspections is in Lake St. Louis, MO, in conjunction with the ATA Annual Membership Meeting. Any nominated horse is eligible to come to the Lake St. Louis site if convenient.

To make an inspection financially feasible, a minimum of 6 mares must be presented for OSB inspection with an additional 4 horses for voluntary inspection or evaluation. For stallion inspections, a minimum of 4 stallion candidates are required in addition to the 6 mares. Horse owners will be notified of the cancellation of the particular inspection if the minimum number of horses have not been processed by the deadline date.

Important: All documentation and payments must be received in the ATA Office by the stated deadlines, which is approximately 6 weeks before the scheduled inspection date.

Inspection Application

All horses will be inspected on a hard surface (for soundness), on the triangle, and at liberty. Their official measurements will be taken. Stallion candidates will also be free-jumped and subjected to a veterinary examination, possibly including a drug test.

  1. Mare should be well groomed, braiding acceptable but not necessary.
  2. Foal by side, running free, is acceptable, actually desirable.
  3. Horses 2½ years old and older should be shown in a bridle with quick-detach reins.
  4. Receipt of application AND fees by the stated deadline is mandatory in order to enable inspectors to obtain their plane tickets.
