Registration

How do I register a new foal

After your foal is born, please complete the back of the Foal Announcement (white breeding certificate) or semen/insemination certificate with the foaling information and mail to the ATA office, 1514 W Church St., Newark, OH 43055. Please be sure to sign your name and provide a complete mailing address.

After receipt of this, you will be mailed a registration application to complete with instructions for everything you will need to register this foal.

Even if you do not plan on registering this foal right away or at all, PLEASE mail the completed breeding certificate to the ATA office. This is the only record we have of a live foal and our rules state that we cannot register a horse without an original breeding certificate.
Registration certificates will be processed in the order they are received. Please allow anywhere from 6 - 12 weeks to receive your horse's registration papers back in the mail.

American Trakehner Association FEE SCHEDULE

How do I register an older Trakehner-
If we do not have the original breeding certificate on file, you will need to provide us with one. If you were the mare owner at the time of breeding and didn't receive a breeding certificate, you will need to contact the stallion's owner and request one. If you were not the mare owner at the time of breeding, you will need to contact them to request a breeding certificate be completed by them and turned in to the ATA office. Our rules state that only the mare owner at the time of breeding is eligible to register the resulting foal, so you will also need to provide a bill of sale or proof of ownership from the mare owner. If the mare was leased, then please provide a dated lease agreement.

How do I transfer ownership of a Trakehner-

For an ATA registered Trakehner, please have the previous owner(s) sign their name(s) on the back of the original certificate of registration under the column: Present Owners Name and Address:
the new owner(s) sign their name(s) and complete mailing address in the next column under: Ownership Transferred To:
and mail the original certificate of registration and the current owner transfer fee of $30.00 U.S. to the ATA, 1514 W Church Street, Newark, OH 43055. We will then record the transfer and mail the new owner(s) back the original certificate of registration.

If you are transferring ownership of a NATA registered Trakehner, please mail the original certificate of registration along with a bill of sale or proof of ownership from the previous owner(s) along with the current owner transfer fee of $30.00 to the ATA office.
